Radio spectrum is typically Government regulated and in some countries sold or licensed. In Malaysia, The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission undertakes this responsibility and is tasked to regulate and enforce compliance in accordance to the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In keeping with the evolving industry, the Commission continues to carry out studies and research in this field, in collaboration and partnership with Institutes of higher learning, aimed at providing reliable and accurate information and knowledge to foster an informed industry.
What is Frequency Assignment
An Apparatus Assignment confers rights to a person or company with an operating license to use or operate telecommunication apparatus in a specific frequency band. The need to assign apparatus came about due to:

the need to scan the usage of frequency

threat to the safety due to incorrect use of an apparatus

the level of congestion within the spectrum range required

compliance with technical standard requirements
Apparatus Assignment is divided into 6 types:
