Apparatus Assignment

Apparatus Assignment is an assignment issued to a person or a company who intend to use or operate telecommunication apparatus in a specific frequency band.

A person or company should possess an operating licence if they are interested to become a service provider. This assignment can be acquired within 60 days of application.

The need to assign apparatus came about due to:

i)

the impact of frequency interference

ii)

the need to scan the usage of frequency

iii)

threat to the safety due to incorrect use of an apparatus

iv)

the level of congestion within the spectrum range required

v)

compliance with technical standard requirements

Apparatus Assignment is divided into 6 types:

1.

Fixed

Coast Station

Aeronautical Fixed Station

Press Receiving Station

Earth Station (less than 2.4 meters)

Earth Station (2.4 meters and above)

Experimental Station

Fixed Station

Land Station (less than 30 MHz)

Land Station (30 MHz up to 2 GHz)

Land Station (more than 2 GHz)
