Frequency Assignments

An Apparatus Assignment confers rights to a person or company with an operating license to use or operate telecommunication apparatus in a specific frequency band. The need to assign apparatus came about due to:

  1. the impact of frequency interference
  2. the need to scan the usage of frequency
  3. threat to safety due to incorrect use of an apparatus
  4. the level of congestion within the spectrum range required
  5. compliance with technical standard requirements 

Apparatus Assignment is divided into 6 types:

1. Fixed
  • Coast Station
  • Aeronautical Fixed Station
  • Press Receiving Station
  • Earth Station (less than 2.4 meters)
  • Earth Station (2.4 meters and above)
  • Experimental Station
  • Fixed Station
  • Land Station (less than 30 MHz)
  • Land Station (30 MHz up to 2 GHz)
  • Land Station (more than 2 GHz)
