MCMC LEGASI Scholarship

 
Programme Summary

MCMC LEGASI Scholarship is a merit-based full scholarship programme designed for outstanding Malaysian students who have either obtained admission or are currently in their first year of a bachelor's degree programme at any local or international university. The programme is open to students pursuing fields related to the Communications and Multimedia (C&M) industry. Upon completing their studies, scholars will be employed by MCMC, providing them with a direct pathway to contribute to the growth and innovation of the industry.

Eligibility Criteria:

1.   Obtained admission to pursue studies (conditional offer can be considered) or currently in the first year of a bachelor’s degree programme at any local and global universities in these fields:

  • AI & Data Science 
  • ​Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Information and Network Security, including Cybersecurity
  • ​Telecommunications
  • Broadcasting and Media
  • Engineering
  • Policy, Law & Regulatory Management
  • Urban Planning and Management
  • ​Economics & Finance
 

2.     Obtained a minimum of:

  • CGPA 3.5 for STPM / Foundation / Malaysian Matriculation / Diploma; or
  • 3As for A-Level Programme; or
  • ATAR of 85% for Australian Matriculation; or
  • SAT score of 1,200 for American Foundation; or
  • 35 points for International Baccalaureate (IB). 

3.     Not exceeding 22 years of age as at the enrolment date for the bachelor’s degree programme.

  • Obtained a minimum of:
    • 3As for STPM; or
    • 3As for GCE A-Level Programme; or
    • Minimum ATAR of 85% for Australian Matriculation; or
    • Minimum SAT score of 1,200 for American Foundation Programme; or
    • Minimum CGPA of 3.50 / 4.00 for Diploma / Foundation / Matriculation Programme; or
    • Minimum 35 points for International Baccalaureate (IB)
 
  • Not exceeding 22 years of age as at the enrolment date for the bachelor’s degree programme.

This full scholarship covers university fees, monthly living allowance, book/apparatus allowance, digital device allowance and others allowance.
 
As for overseas scholarships, the full scholarship will also include flight tickets, winter clothing allowance and settling in allowance.

All MCMC LEGASI scholars are bonded and guaranteed of a job placement. The bond period begins once the scholar is employed by MCMC. The duration of the bond will be twice the number of years the student was under the MCMC’s sponsorship.

MCMC conducts a thorough and rigorous selection process to choose scholarship recipients. Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a psychometric assessment and attend an interview session, as determined by MCMC.

No, the scholarship is available only to full-time students.

You are expected to perform at the highest level throughout the duration of your study. Scholars must satisfy all course works, examinations and/or dissertation requirements, as well as maintain a CGPA of 3.50 or Second Class Upper every semester.

Candidates who are currently bonded with other scholarship providers are not eligible to apply.
 
However, candidates who are currently receiving zakat assistance or any form of financial aid from other organisations without an obligation to serve a scholarship bond, are eligible to apply for MCMC LEGASI. Nevertheless, candidates must terminate their current financial aid upon accepting a scholarship or bursary from MCMC.

The application window will open tentatively in May 2026. Announcements will be made via MCMC social media channels.
 

MCMC only provides scholarships for undergraduate studies for now.
