1.  (1) This Act may be cited as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2002.

     (2) This Act comes into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the  Gazette.

 

 

2.  The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 [Act 589], which in this Act is referred to as the “principal

Act”, is amended in paragraph 6(c) by substituting for the word “three” the word “five”.

 

 

3.  Section 38 of the principal Act is amended by inserting after subsection (2) the following subsection:

 

      “(3) Notwithstanding paragraph 38(2)(c), monies referred to in that paragraph which are in excess of the financial requirements of  
       the Commission for the performance of its functions under this Act may be paid into the Consolidated Fund.”.
