YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad bin Mentek
YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad bin Mentek has been appointed as Commission Member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission effective from 17 November 2020 for a period of two (2) years.
Born in Semporna Sabah on 20 April 1964, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad graduated from University of Minnesota, United States with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Master of Science in Statistic. He obtained a Diploma in Public Administration from Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN) in 1992.
YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad had spent almost 28 years in civil service since he first embarked his professional career as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1992. Prior to his current appointment as the Secretary General of Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM), he had served as the Secretary General of Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) and Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).
He has vast working experiences in various Ministries and Government agencies such as Ministry of Education, Prime Minister’s Office and Immigration Department of Malaysia. YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad was the first ever Sabahan appointed to hold the post of Secretary General and State Director for Sabah’s Immigration Department.
YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad has had various remarkable international achievements throughout his professional journey. He was entrusted to lead Malaysian delegates in the 50th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Small & Medium Enterprises Working Group (SMEWG) Meeting 2020. In 2017, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad successfully presented a paper titled “Solid Waste Management in Malaysia; Towards a Holistic Approach” at the 2017 World Conference organized by the International Solid Waste Association, Maryland United States and chaired the 50th Eastern Regional Organization for Planning and Human Settlements Meeting in Quezon City, Philippines.
YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad is currently the Chairman and board member of URBANICE Malaysia. In the past he had held several directorship positions such as the board member of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB)(February 2019 – March 2020), Syarikat Perumahan Berhad (January 2019 – December 2019), Perbadanan PRIMA Malaysia (January 2019 – March 2020), Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) (Mei 2015 – March 2020), UDA Holdings (June – November 2020), Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Berhad (Mei – November 2020) and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (October – November 2020).
His excellent contributions had won him several awards in the organizations that he had served i.e Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang in 1994 and 2003.
YBhg. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad had been conferred with various state awards namely, Ahli Darjah Kinabalu Negeri Sabah (2006), Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMK) (2008), Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) (2012), Pingat Kedaulatan Negara (PKN) (2014), Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) (2017), Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM) (2017), Bintang Jasa Bomba (2018), Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM) (2019) and Ahli Yang Kehormat Yang Kedua (Dato’ Paduka) bagi Darjah Kebesaran Mahkota Kelantan (DPMK) (2019).
