Contests: Be a contentpreneur

CALLING Malaysian students of any discipline between 18 and 25 years old who are interested in broadcasting, multimedia and communications. Youths who fit the bill are invited to vie as individuals or as a team for the Nextgen Contentpreneur Awards(NCA), a collaboration between Astro, Suruhanjaya Komunikasi and Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) and MSC Malaysia. Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd executive director Zainir Aminullah hopes the NCA will nurture young Malaysians in the fields mentioned and help build a pool of talented human capital. Entries are divided into five categories - Short Content, Documentary, Music Video, Animation and Web Design. From the five categories, 11 awards will be presented: Extraordinary Short Content (TV and Mobile), Revolutionary Documentary, Incomparable Animation, Most Amazing Visual Effects, Unique Web Design, Phenomenal Art Direction, Outstanding Music Video, Exceptional Lyrics, Finest Music and Arrangement, Mind-Blowing Sound Effects and Special Award for Creative Use of Medium. In addition to the RM10,000 prize and a trophy, winners have the opportunity to pitch for a government grant to produce their own full-length multimedia content production, which will pave the way for them to pursue a career in the communications, broadcasting and multimedia industry.
