PETALING JAYA: The Dutamas Hospital scam is conning unsuspecting victims again by offering jobs that do not exist.
Among the jobs advertised on its fake website, http://dutamashospital-my.com/, were for staff midwife, nurse and resident medical officer positions.
Just like before, those behind the scam partially used information from the legitimate Columbia Asia Hospital Setapak's website including names and photographs of its medical practitioners as well as “lifting” photographs from other hospitals under the Columbia Asia Hospital's umbrella.
The URL of the websites of these two fake hospitals along with the previously reported “Hartamas Medical Center”, which was also a fraud, are registered in Florida, United States to “James Baker Enterprises”.
This second website had been active since last month and it is learnt that several individuals made enquiries about the fake hospital as they had been offered jobs for various positions.
The website was taken down last week.
It was reported last month that the fake Dutamas Hospital offered salaries of more than US$9,000 (RM27,000) per month for executive jobs.
If they took the bait, victims would be asked to pay thousands of ringgit upfront as visa and contract fees.
It was also reported that “Hartamas Medical Center” had mirrored the Damai Service Hospital (HQ) website.
Columbia Asia Hospital Setapak's general manager Tom Lim said it had lodged another report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
“We are worried because photographs of our consultants have been posted on the website and gives a false impression that the doctors in this hospital are involved in the scam. But this is not true.”
Federal CyberSecurity and Multimedia Investigation Division director Asst Comm Mohd Kamaruddin Din said his department was investigating.
