KL Converge 2014 To Establish Malaysia As Digital Media And Communications Hub In Asean
27 Aug 2014, bernama
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The inaugural KL Converge 2014 is aimed at establishing Malaysia as Asean's leading digital media and communications hub in fortifying creative content synergies through digital integration.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi said the three-day event starting Sept 17 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) would be a new platform for multimedia, communications, content and creative industry players to share ideas and create new opportunities.
"As the event is the first of it's kind to be organised in Asia, we are expecting more than 20,000 visitors, especially local industry players to grab opportunities for networking and exploring investment opportunities, share experiences and fresh ideas, and explore areas of cooperation with global creative leaders.
"In today's technology-driven economics, the ubiquitous internet and mobile distribution channels are generating new opportunities to deliver content to the public with refreshed levels of customer satisfaction, measurable results and accuracy," he said at the media briefing session for KL Converge 2014, here today.
According to Mohamed Sharil, industry players from nine Asean countries and India have confirmed their participation.
Pixar's visual effects editor David Tanaka; Oscar-winning film production designer and director Roger Christian, composer, arranger and conductor Steve Sidwell, are among more than 20 local and foreign speakers to be involved in the various activities scheduled for the event.
The event is also one of MCMC's initiatives to find local talent and content for the Malaysian Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), to be launched in 12-month time.
Earlier, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek was reported as saying that the DTT which is based on new technology will not only encompass comprehensive coverage but can also raise the quality content of the industry to be more advanced.
The entrance for the KL Converge 2014 is entirely free, however the participants are advised to check schedule and register for each session early at the event's website, www.klconverge.com.
