List of smartphones out next week

06 Jan 2013, New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: The list of smartphones offered to youth under the RM200 rebate through the Youth Communication Package will be issued next week by seven telecommunication companies, with the cooperation of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

The seven companies are Celcom, Maxis, DiGi, U Mobile, Clixster, Tune Talk and YTL Communications (YES).

MCMC strategic communications adviser Sheikh Raffie Abd Rahman said the seven telecommunication companies would need to inform MCMC of the models of smartphones before offering them to eligible youth.

"After obtaining the list of smartphone models, MCMC will consolidate the lists for the telecommunication companies to upload on their websites.

"MCMC will also monitor the brands and prices of the smartphones to ensure there are no cases of fake ones being sold."

Raffie also advised youth to be patient when applying online at MCMC's website to obtain the RM200 rebate, adding that MCMC is improving its online system.
