Malaysian Government Recognised in FutureGov Awards

The FutureGov Awards Malaysia 2013 are an offshoot of the FutureGov Awards, which recognise successful modernisation in government, education and healthcare organisations in the Asia Pacific region. Presented before an audience of 250 senior civil servants and representatives from the technology industry, the awards showcased the achievements of the Malaysian public sector in eight categories including Service Innovation, E-government, Information Management and Technology Leadership.

“Malaysian government organisations have consistently ranked above their regional peers over the last six years in our annual benchmarking process which has tracked the project management, planning and vision of over 500 government agencies annually since 2007,” said James Smith, Managing Director and Editor of FutureGov magazine. “This led us to develop this national awards process this year to enable a greater focus on the good work being done by one of ASEAN’s most respected public services.”

The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) emerged as the big winner at the awards, walking away with three of the eight awards presented including the Government Organisation of the Year.Other winners included the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for its ‘eBMGPermit’ project in the E-government category, and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission for its ‘u-Pustaka’ project in the Technology Leadership category. The complete list of the winners of FutureGov Awards Malaysia 2013, judged by the editors of FutureGov, follows.
