MCMC Flood Fund Re-Activated
25 Feb 2015, bernama
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) humanitarian fund was re-activated starting today till March 31 to provide an opportunity for the public to help flood victims.
MCMC senior director of strategic communications Sheikh Raffie Abd Rahman said the fund was previously closed on Jan 31, but due to overwhelming response from the public, it was re-activated, he said in a statement today.
The MCMC humanitarian fund, which was launched on Dec 24 to help flood victims hardest hit by the disaster at the end of last year, managed to collect more than RM2.2 million.
The fund was jointly managed by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia and MCMC, along with telecommunication companies such as Celcom, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd and Maxis Berhad.
Those who want to donate may do so using the Short Messaging Service System (SMS) by typing flood (amount of donation from RM1 to RM20) and send it to 13999.
