KOTA KINABALU, April 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will hold a 'Cyber Security Competition' from April 8-9 as a platform to seek new talent to be trained as the country's digital forensics specialists.

Its Network Security and Enforcement Sector chief officer Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin said the initiative could help increase the number of digital forensics specialists in the country who are much needed for technology-based communication in various fields which are becoming more expansive.

"For instance, in the I-Hack Challenge held at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), we identified some new talents and offered them to do internship with MCMC.

"However, if we conduct open interviews or various other ways, we may not get the right talent," he said after launching the 'Borneo Cyber Security (BCSC) Challenge 2017' at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Saturday.

Six hundred students from public and private institutions of higher learning in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia are participating in the two-day event which aims to create greater awareness on cybersecurity.
