GEORGE TOWN: An assemblyman has lodged a police report over a fake Facebook account created under his name.
Seri Delima DAP assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer said he had nothing to do with the account which contained lewd photographs of women in bikinis and allegations that he was going through a bad patch and waiting to file for a divorce.
Rayer said the fake account was discovered by his special assistant on Sunday night.
He said his genuine Facebook account featured a profile picture of him delivering a speech while the fake one had a photograph of him in black and white.
He lodged a report at Patani Road police station yesterday after requesting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to close down the fake account.
Rayer has also e-mailed a formal complaint to Facebook.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the case had been referred to the MCMC.
