Siok Bah programme: 10,000 crowd expected

Kota Kinabalu: More than 10,000 people are expected to attend "Siok Bah 1Malaysia" programme to be held at Sandakan Municipal padang for two days starting March 24. Sabah Information Communication and Culture Ministry Coordinating Committee Chairman, Almain Ajirul, said the programme is aimed at bringing government agencies closer to the people. The programme to be launched by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman on March 25 will feature all departments and agencies under the ministry. They are Sabah Information Department, Sabah Broadcasting Department, Sabah Culture and Arts Department, Sabah Special Affairs Department, Malaysian National News Agency, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation, National Archives Department, National Film Development Corporation, Pos Malaysia and Telekom Malaysia. "We also invite various departments and agencies to hold exhibitions to mark the programme," he said after chairing "Siok Bah 1Malaysia" implementation meeting at Sabah Culture and Arts Department, here, Thursday. Almain said it is held to make people understand the role and services provided by departments and agencies under the ministry. It is also in line with the call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to government departments and agencies to reach out to people and solve their problems. Activities lined up include gotong royong to cook bubur lambuk, handcraft workshop, traditional sports and a concert to spread various cultures among Komuniti 1Malaysia.
