Telco probes fraud allegation

PUCHONG: MADEHI TAHIR of Sri Kembangan, fears personal details he submitted to a telecommunications company may have been misused by a third party. “In February, I applied to add two new supplementary lines to my current principal line at the company’s outlet in IOI Mall,” says the 32-year-old IT worker. “However, after three weeks of attempting to contact them without success, I decided not to proceed with the application.” Feeling frustrating, he claims he also lodged a police report to safeguard his personal and corporate background information from fraud. After doing so, he returned to the outlet to retrieve the information he had submitted, but was shocked to discover his application form had been resubmitted. Worse still, he alleges, his form featured someone else’s signature. Fearing the possibility of forgery, MADEHI then lodged a complaint with the telecommunication company’s customer service who, he says, twice promised he would receive a call within 24 to 48 hours. Two weeks later, a frustrated MADEHI is still waiting. MADEHI says he lodged another police report and also reported to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and hopes the company will get to the bottom of the matter quickly. >>Back
