State Governments and the private sector outside the Klang Valley are still lagging in the use of information and communication technology (ICT). Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission chairman Tan Sri Nuraizah Abdul Hamid said a comprehensive network facility should be made available in other parts of the country if Malaysia was to become global communication hub. "We still have a long way to go in creating the global hub, the first of the 10 national policy objectives for the communications and multimedia sector," she said. She was speaking after delivering a talk on Malaysian Communications and Multimedia at the Perak Academy, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Perak as centre of excellence in thought, culture and technology. Nuraizah said the Commission hoped to encourage the use of ICT in more parts of the countries, and would conduct sessions in the states. "We want to create greater urgency among the authorities and corporate sector, she said."
