MCMC Announces Fulbright-MCMC Grant Recipients And 2016 Call For Applications

MCMC ANNOUNCES FULBRIGHT-MCMC GRANT RECIPIENTS AND 2016 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
 
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 June 2016 --- Three individuals were awarded the Fulbright-MCMC grant at a brief ceremony hosted by the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) held in the capital today.
 
The three recipients under Fulbright-MCMC Grant were Mr. Tan Win Son who will be pursuing post graduate study in the area of Data Sciences at Arizona State University; Dr. Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi from Multimedia University who will be going to a reputable university in the United States as a Malaysian Senior Researcher in the area of Digital Pathology and Hispathological Image Analysis and Professor Victor W. Mbarika, US Senior Specialist in augmented reality and gamification from the Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College who will be hosted by Dr. Fakhrul Hazman Yusoff from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
 
Apart from the three successful recipients for the Fulbright-MCMC grant, successful candidates chosen for other schemes such as the Fulbright Senior Scholars, Fulbright US-ASEAN Initiative Scholar, Fulbright Graduate Students, Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants and Global UGRAD Exchange Programmes, were also announced.
 
At the event, The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) were represented by Mr. Toh Swee Hoe, Advisor to the MCMC Academy. During the event, Swee Hoe took the opportunity to announce the 2016 Call for Application for the Fulbright-MCMC grant.  
 
The key priority areas for the 2016 Call for Application for the grant are Smart Digital Nation (Cities and Communities), Data Sciences and Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Information and Network Security, Policy and Regulatory Matters (spectrum, competition, access pricing etc.) and Digital Inclusion. 
 
 
The Fulbright-MCMC grant is a platform to promote specialist, research and development related to Communications and Multimedia industry in Malaysia. It also seeks to foster mutual cooperation and collaboration in generating education, research, consultation, and professional enrichment and development activities that are significant for the continuous growth of the industry as we move towards a smart digital nation, cities and communities and a digital economy by 2020.
