MYTV-TM Urged To Resolve The Digital TV Service Disruption

14 Nov 2018
Unresolved commercial issues between MYTV Broadcasting Sdn. Bhd. (MYTV) and Telekom Malaysia (TM) have resulted in disruption to the digital TV test transmission service.  As of 14 November 2018, test transmission to several states including Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak have been impacted.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has already held several meetings with MYTV and TM to facilitate the resolution of this matter. Both MYTV and TM have been instructed to resolve their issues so that services to the viewers will resume in the shortest time possible.

MCMC understands that MYTV has put forward a proposal for TM’s consideration. In the interest of viewers, both MYTV and TM must not lose sight of their service delivery to the Rakyat. They should work harder to resolve their commercial differences quickly.

In the interim, affected viewers will still be able to watch Free-To-Air TV programmes on the analogue platform.
MCMC is closely monitoring the progress of the Digital TV project to ensure that the target for analogue switch-off (ASO) remains at Q1, 2019.
