Content in which copyright is mine (such as write-ups, video clips, or recordings) was uploaded without my permission. Can MCMC assist me in removing the content from the website?
If the infringement is happening on an online platform, most websites or service providers (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, etc.) offer a process to submit a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notice or a similar complaint. Each platform has specific steps to submit a copyright claim.
Complainant will need to provide:
- A description of the copyrighted work.
- The location of the infringing material.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the material is infringing your copyright.
- Your contact information.
- A declaration of the accuracy of your claim, under penalty of perjury.
Complaints can also be filed via
eaduan.kpdn.gov.my with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living ("KPDN"), as violations under the Copyright Act 1987 are enforced by the Ministry.
