In our concerted effort addressing challenges posed by the evolving landscape of online media, a meeting with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which see CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Telekom Malaysia, Time, YTL and Astro, took place at MCMC Headquarters, Cyberjaya. The meeting was co-chaired by MCMC Chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and Deputy Secretary General of Ministry of Communications and Digital, Ma. Sivanesan.
The meeting addresses priority areas in ensuring network security, removal of harmful contents including scam, phishing and personal data exposure as well as speedy response to the issue. To tackle these challenges, a rapid response team (RRT) consisting of MCMC and service provider officers will be set up.
ISPs are expected to make every effort to prevent criminal activities on their networks and promptly remove any online harms and assist Law enforcement agencies in investigating criminal offenses, considering the growing number of public complaints and crimes related to the abuse of network facilities and services.
