KUCHING: The Association of Computer and Multimedia Industry Malaysia (Pikom) Sarawak PC Fair is now back — bigger and better than before. Held for the first time at a new and bigger location at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the organiser Kuching Computer Business Association (KCBA) promised something different from previous years when the fair was held at Permata Carpark near the city’s golden triangle. In a press statement, it said last year’s fair drew a three-day crowd of about 50,000. Now that it is being held at the BCCK, there would not be any parking hassle. And with a bigger space, more people are expected to come and comfortably look for their favourite gadgets at 72 vendor booths. Financial facilities and telecommunications service providers will also open their booths at the fair. The fair is supported and endorsed by Sarawak ICT Unit, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Kuching City North Commission (DBKU) and Kuching City South Council (MBKS). A similar fair comprising some 60 booths is also held at the same time at the Miri Indoor Stadium. Unlike the previous years, there will be more ICT vendors, telecommunications products, electronic gadgets, games, contests, and lucky draws. To take part in the daily lucky draws, one must make purchases amounting to RM100 or above with proof of receipts from the vendors and booths. The winners will be announced at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm daily with cash prizes to be won. In addition, those who purchased RM300 or above worth of products at the fair are also eligible for free gift redemption. Students who have proof of identification are eligible to take part with RM200 minimum purchase. The fair runs daily from 10am to 9pm till tomorrow.
