World Standards Day 2018: Calling For Entries For Instagram Competition

CYBERJAYA, October 15, 2018 ---  In conjunction with World Standards Day 2018, the Department of Standards Malaysia (Standards Malaysia) in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is organizing a competition on Instagram.
 
Themed “The International Standards and the 4th Industrial Revolution”, the competition which began on October 1st and lasts until the end of this month, is aimed at garnering views on how standards can serve as a catalyst for Malaysia as the nation moves towards the 4th Industrial Revolution.
 
The competition is open to all Malaysians aged 13 years and above. It offers cash prizes totaling RM5,500 whereby the champion will bag RM1,000 in cash. In order to participate, they just need to adhere to a few simple steps namely - follow Standards Malaysia’s and MCMC’s Instagram accounts, repost the official World Standards Day poster and complete the caption “Standard dapat merealisasikan Revolusi Industri 4.0 dengan …” with maximum of 30 words and to include a hashtag #wsd2018malaysia.
 
Standards Malaysia Director-General, Datuk Fadilah Baharin said, “The 4th Industrial Revolution is often seen from the technology perspective while the social impact of it is notably missing. That is why through this competition, we would like to place emphasis on the social aspect of it and how it impacts the lives of the people in various ways.”
 
MCMC Chairman, Al-Ishsal Ishak meanwhile explained that “In this digital era, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, cloud computing and other technological advancements are critical in driving the nation towards the 4th Industrial Revolution. MCMC will ensure that the infrastructure is ready to facilitate the change. All of this will not be possible without standards which serve as a common reference for everyone involved.”
